Emporio Armani

Giorgio Armani was born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, in the Northern part of Italy. After two years studying medicine, he left for Milan to work as a window dresser for Rinascente, a renowned department store. After a first contract as a stylist with Hitman (the masculine brand by Nino Cerruti), Giorgio Armani set up his own busines, and collaborated with several fashion labels — the kind of experience that would later go a long way to help him develop his own, personal style. Now a confirmed professional, Giorgio Armani decided to create his own label, with the support of his friend Sergio Galeotti who would also become his associate. That is how on July 24, 1975, Giorgio Armani S.p.A. came to life. The first collection of Giorgio Armani ready-to-wear, for Spring/Summer 1976, was presented that same year. That collection represented the starting point in an extraordinary evolution that would see the label assert itself in various domains of the art of living.

David Beckham en Emporio ArmaniEmporio Armani is one of the 12 lines of Giorgio Armani S.p.A. Launched in 1981, Emporio Armani is the Armani line that is the most inspired by youth, as it tends to target the young-adult market. It comes third among the low-priced Armani lines, and it is the most distributed brand in that empire. The Emporio Armani products include ready-to-wear (Emporio Armani T-shirts, Emporio Armani sweat-shirts, Emporio Armani pullovers), sunglasses and eyeglasses, perfume by the l'Oréal group, accessories, and watches. This is a line that is seen as a "bridging line" with better finish than Armani Exchange or Armani Jeans, but not so expensive as the Armani Collezioni or Giorgio Armani lines.
